Read the Report

The Courage to Act: Developing a National draft Framework to Address and Prevent Gender-Based Violence at Post-Secondary Institutions in Canada report captures promising practices, key policy areas, and prevention plans as the foundation of a framework to address and prevent gender-based violence at post-secondary institutions in Canada.

Developed in collaboration with community stakeholders from across Canada during 30+ Listening and Learning Sessions, this Framework builds on the crucial work—led by students, staff, faculty, academics and community organizers—already being done on campuses and in communities to address sexual violence, while expanding the scope to more broadly include gender-based violence.

A Note on Toolkit Usage

We hope these resources will be valuable to those seeking to address and prevent campus gender-based violence. As these are evolving documents, they may not capture the full complexity of the subject matter. The information provided does not constitute legal advice, and is not intended to be prescriptive. It should be considered a supplement to existing expertise, experience, and credentials; not a replacement for them.

We encourage readers to seek out training, education, and professional development opportunities in relevant areas to enhance their knowledge and sustained engagement with this work.

Accessibility Statement

The Courage to Act project strives to create resources that are free, open, and accessible to all. This is a work in progress: we are continually identifying barriers to accessibility in our resources and online presence, and building our capacity to mitigate them.

Our resources have been designed, as much as possible, with accessibility in mind. Headings and formatting are designed to be compatible with screen-reader technology, information is not conveyed by colour alone, font size is to the recommended minimum, and content can be zoomed to 200%.

From 2021-2023, we will work alongside individuals with expertise in digital accessibility to ensure our resources are as accessible as possible. Known areas for improvement include:

  • Providing our downloads in multiple file formats such as HTML and EPUB.

  • Ensuring all images and graphics have alt-tags and supporting details in the surrounding text.

We are always looking for more ways to improve. If you have problems accessing something, please email operations@couragetoact.ca
